Re: AD1986a (NForce 430) motherboard A8N-VM-CSM
Hi. I have some problem. 1) ossmix show wrong values of all controls (vol, pcm). currently 389:389 2) how to play 4 or 6 channel audio? mplayer can't setup multi channel output. PS ossplay test.wav /dev/dsp doesn't support 6 channels oss-freebsd-v4.0rc2-179-i386 Use a virtual mixer, like /dev/dsp5....

Thanks
Thanks for working on it, dev. I'm now using RC2 and there's now very faint sound. Volume controls in ossmix don't stay set, though. Best of luck. EDIT : Using ossxmix, I got volumes up. Then proceeded to scare myself to hell by playing a song with the speaker volume at 100%. ossmix is poop now :/ F...

No, it does not. Neither osstest, nor xmms/realplayer play no sound. I've linked ln -s /dev/dsp3 /dev/dsp and tried. Nothing in headphones and speakers. OK we'll have to get one of these machines inhouse to test with. regards Dev Same problem for me. Sorry dev. I used /dev/dsp3 before and it worked...

How did you manage that? It made my box kernel panic. Try the OSS v4.0 beta version at http://www.opensound.com/test You must uninstall the 3.99 version by typing /usr/lib/oss/scripts/uninstall.sh regards Dev Mazumdar No luck. I uninstalled 3.99 and pkg_add'd the beta. When it came to loading the m...

Re: new to FreeBSD - looking for musicians advice
I'm considering switching from WindowsXP to FreeBSD. I'm not very knowledgeable on computers though :? My main use for computer is with musicprograms like Cubase, Sibelius and Band-in-a-Box. Can you give me some advice/tips for: - a program (like Cubase) with which I could do decent home-recordings...

I don't know what you're doing to get it to work, dev, but my box isn't so lucky. MOBO: ECS 755-A2 Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SE (comes up as audigy LS) FreeBSD 6.1-STABLE-200606 I've tried a *lot* of different things with this card. The FreeBSD/amd64 OSS driver makes a hiss, the i386 driver makes...
