Dev, I still can't get build 1001 to work. I have installed ssys, etc., via sysinstall.

Oddly 1000 ran fine. Is there a way I can get build 1000 to try again?

Thanks

I went into sysinstall and installed /src/sys and ssys.

Then I reinstalled oss.

Still no joy. Same error.

Here is the error:

$osstest
SNDCTL_SYSINFO: failed: Device not configured
Cannot get system information. Perhaps you are not running OSS 4.x
but some slightly incompatible sound sybsystem.
$

What do I need to do to install or verify installation of ssys?

Thanks

Is build 1001 for FreeBSD broken?

I reinstalled OSS on my FreeBSD box after I reinstalled FreeBSD 6.2. I had previously used OSS build 1000, and it installed and worked fine. When I got around to reinstalling BSD, the new version build 1001 of OSS was available. I cannot get it to run. It installs, but when I run osstest or ossinfo ...

That worked

Dev, that worked. I didn't know you could pkg_add a tarball that wasnt extracted. I do draw your attention to the install instructions .pdf that you download from the OSS site along with the tarball. It refers to a .pkg. Anyway, osstest ran after a reboot, and all is well with my sound. Thanks very ...

NOOB - Install OSS MacbookPro/FreeBSD

I'm trying to get sound working on my MacbookPro, using FreeBSD 6.2 as a VM in Parallels. I don't see a sound card when I cat /dev/sndstat. So, I figured I'd try to install OSS v4.0. I have d/l'd the .tbz, and tar'd it. It is in /tmp. ls /tmp reveals: ls +COMMENT .font-unix +CONTENTS .gdm_socket +DE...
