Have you tried the more up to date build of SXCE? do you have it plugged directly into the machine or are you using a hub?

You're probably thinking of the internal/pci based one.

Choosing Input Webcam or Builtin Mic

I've got a webcam with a USB microphone. Both are supported by Solaris - the problem I have is when I'm using something like Flash or a video application, I am unable to select which one is the input - the built in microphone of the laptop or the microphone in the webcam. Is there a way to specify w...

If you get the opportunity you might like to experiment and check whether it was necessary to set both instances of "val" to zero. Could the squealing be cured by leaving one or other at its original setting? It may help to narrow down the underlying problem as this is the first case to h...

Re: Playback

I used audacity for playback. I did not try ossplay. Try ossplay and see if it makes a difference. I've had problems in the past in terms of OSS compatibility with applications which rely on gstreamer which in turn rely on the SUn audio system which is emulated by opensound. The idea situation will...

Re: Problem with record and playback on opensolaris with env

Hi folks, I have an AMD64 XP3500+ system running opensolaris (actually, it's Nevada build 88). I've installed OSS build 1015 and audacity among other things. Everything seems to load properly. I have been testing recording via the digital inputs on an M-Audio Delta DiO 2496 (envy24 driver). I can h...

In oss source: edit kernel/drv/oss_hdaudio/hdaudio_generic.c replace val = (maxval * 9) / 10; /* 90% of the maximum */ with val = 0; /* 0% of the maximum */ in two places. Save changes, recompile and install. Ensure mixer.save is removed before restarting. Perfect - I've compiled it and eve...

To get the mixer set automatically, we need two things: A) Save the correct settings somewhere in some format. B) Run a program to restore these settings automatically on boot. A) Set the wanted configuration using ossxmix. And then: 1) savemixer as root, and see if mixer.save is correctly saved. s...

Default volume level is 80% but if oss x mix works you should be able to reduce all sliders to zero within a graphical environment. There is no single command to do this in ossmix. yes, but I want the squeal to be muted from boot - the problem is that when it oss loads it doesn't read the mixer.sav...

is it possible to set all volumes to 0?

This simply isn't working; I'm continuing to get feedback no matter what I do.

I patched all instances of SNDCTL_MIX_WRITE, muted); muted with 0, and then compiled - it still squeals. there is definately something wrong if none of this is working. Edit: when I went to the line which you said existed, it didn't match up; line 3066 when using gedit is simply a blank space. So I ...
