Re: How to enable "production quality with extra precision"?
Hi Igor ! No prob, you're perfectly right : making package in Debian is actually more complicated than making pkgbuild scripts for Arch, even if we take some objective measurements about complexity, but of course Debian packages are more supposed to be simply used by lazy people like me than made, s...

Re: How to enable "production quality with extra precision"?
Debian = Ubuntu = Fedora = SUSE (and so on), from the standpoint of the true believers in the Arch Way . Looks like a troll ... About Arch or Gentoo or any, to my "common sense", the truth is that they are all linux distribs as others. Reminds me of some white people expression finding ev...

Re: How to enable "production quality with extra precision"?
About 6 and 7 I missed that you're right ! I've just tried and it's cool indeed. For Arch, I will test it when I have more time (36 hours day ) I think. For the moment I'm fairly well on Debian and Fedora. Probably I'll try Arch on a VM once ! I really find the pkgbuild a bit too complicated to...

Re: How to enable "production quality with extra precision"?
Hi Igor, Add this information, hope it will be relevant. I've just compiled OSSv4 versus 4.2 build 2003 with Production quality with a seemingly simple hint under Debian Lenny and Fedora 13 : From the original 4front gpl source package, first, as already known from you and cesium, simply edit "...

Re: How to enable "production quality with extra precision"?
Well, you (and russians) are the men ! Great professional tests... I'm not kidding. And perfectly right for the microphone and 4.1 for certain soundcards. Selfishly, I got no problem with this because I prefer to use external material treatment for microphone and connect it to Line in which always g...

Re: How to enable "production quality with extra precision"?
Have you tried with 96000 sample rate output ? Just to say, I look for an explanation or documentation about this, but noone seems to notice or give any answer about the vanish of these options ... strange ! If anyone can tell here, it should be great. What was a solution for me : got the sources of...

Re: Amplification & noise reduction with oss4
Have you try to turn the "misc" setting present on this line :
to a value of -28.8 ?
I think this can be the sensitivity of the microphone but not sure...
misc <-28.-8dB|-19.-2dB|-9.-6dB|0.0dB> (currently 0.0dB)
to a value of -28.8 ?
I think this can be the sensitivity of the microphone but not sure...

Re: OSS 4.2 Drivers, occassional static noise
If ever it can help, I had this kind of problems before I made some enhancement of my electric installation. I had also eliminate some processes such as blinking seconds in the clock utilities that creates some irregularities in cpu consumption. This can appear too with some screens when they turn t...

Re: Support for M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496?
To give an advice, you'll probably get better results by pluging the phono pre-amp output directly to a digital recorder such as Tascam DR models or Olympus LS10. It allows you to record at high quality rates and, to my sense, be surer to have the most accurate perception of what goes in to a digita...

Re: What's your sound card?
Hi, First, sorry if my english is not always on top, it's not my mother tongue. I take this opportunity to introduce myself on this forum. I'm a fresh user of OSS V4, glad to have got rid of Alsa thanks to 4Front developpers. Also glad not to have to use Pulse Audio which seems to be even worst than...

Re: OSSv4 on Intel HD Audio ALC883 with Archlinux 64?
Hi, Don't know if it can be of any help, but I've installed 4.2 last week and return back to 4.1 because of sound problems too. The sound at 48000 mix rate was low and some flickering appear on low level music parts. I was having other problems such as unreadable files so I choose to re-install 4.1 ...
