Re: Issus with OSS and jack1 on Ubuntu 20.40

Attached is the output from dmseg. I first cleared the buffer, then ran ossrecord at 96KHz that seg faulted, and then ran dmseg to get the info from the crash. Not sure but it looks like the issue is with the lynxtwo driver. Probably needs to be recompiled for the later kernels. Since this particula...

Re: Issus with OSS and jack1 on Ubuntu 20.40

The Lynx2 OSS driver does support sample rates up to 192KHz in OSS as I had it working without issue on Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.15. I have also used the OSS binary driver with patches in prior releases without issue so I don't think there is an issue with using a patch against the binary. I upgra...

Re: Issus with OSS and jack1 on Ubuntu 20.40

Upon further research looking for the issue, I also tried to use ossrecord which directly uses the OSS driver without jack. When used at 48KHz ossrecord works as expected. Can be used multiple times no issue as noted below ossrecord -v -s48000 -d/dev/dsp_in test.wav Recording wav: Speed 48000Hz 16 b...

Issus with OSS and jack1 on Ubuntu 20.40

I am having an issue using OSS in Ubuntu 20.04 along with Kernel 5.4.0-48-lowlatency that I hope someone can share insight to as I can not figure this one out. I am not sure if the issue is with OSS, Kernel 5.4, or jack1. I am using the OSS deb file along with the patch as indicated in http://ossnex...

Re: Does not compile with kernel 5.2.1

I tried with Kernel 5.4.0-42 on Ubuntu 20.10 and the patch works fine.

The patch provided in:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5882

also works for building the compiled version for those of us who need to Lynx 2 module.

Re: M-Audio 1010 Noise Issue at 96Khz Sample Rate

igorzwx: Enough. How about ignoring this thread from now on? Dan: There's certain information which may or may not be useful. Which input are you using? This occurs on all inputs simultaneously when I change the drop down rate setting in ossxmix to 96Khz. This occurs with the ratelock on or off. As...

Re: M-Audio 1010 Noise Issue at 96Khz Sample Rate

Sorry to say but I have already been through all those links. I am not a newb in regards to Linux and have been using Linux/Unix for over 20 years so I am quite familiar with the OS. I fully expect that this is an issue with the OSS driver so I was just trying to bring this to light in the hopes tha...

Re: M-Audio 1010 Noise Issue at 96Khz Sample Rate

OK I just removed OSS and re-enabled ALSA. Using the envy24 mixer and jack I was able to set the sample rate to 96KHz without any noise. I was able to record over an hours worth of material using all 8 channels simultaneously without a glitch. So there is definately an issue with the OSS envy24 driv...

Re: M-Audio 1010 Noise Issue at 96Khz Sample Rate

I also forgot to mention that I disabled vmix in the osscore.conf file, did a soundoff/soundon and the issue did not change.

Re: M-Audio 1010 Noise Issue at 96Khz Sample Rate

I was thinking that the issue may also be related to vmix. But the noise manifests itself even without having a recording program open. The noise can be seen in the input and mixer meters for all channels of ossxmix whenever the sample rate is switched to 96Khz. Is there anyway to disable vmix usin...

M-Audio 1010 Noise Issue at 96Khz Sample Rate

Hello, I have a M-Audio 1010 Rack in a dual xeon (Socket 604) system running 32 bit Ubuntu 11.04 and the latest 2007 driver binaries and current kernel. When I use the 1010 at a 48KHz sample rate everything works as it should. When I switch the sample rate to 96Khz through ossxmix all inputs produce...
