Re: Support for Pepper Flash / HTML5 vids?

I've just discovered that you can play youtube videos with VLC player and MPlayer. This is great! That means there is no need to libasound2 or other ALSA wrappers. On top of that, you get true high quality OSS sound from VLC. This is a great alternative.

Re: 3.15.5 Kernel No Sound

It tells me that OSS has started, or is already running. The funny thing is, I hear the destinctive clicking noise when the OSS module starts when I boot my machine (maybe it only does this for me). I think it might be a kernel patch that I'm compile with my kernel build. Its the BFS patch (Brain Fu...

Re: 3.15.5 Kernel No Sound

Yes. I think the Arch packages differ from the ones available from the developers site. Thats why I asked you which ones you installed. I think the Arch packages might make new patches for each kernel release. Are you using the 3.15.5 kernel? I'm currently using 3.14 till I figure out why I have no ...

Re: 3.15.5 Kernel No Sound

I can't get any sound when using the 3.15.5 kernel. Strangely, my spdif-out.enable keeps reverting back to "ON." These are my results when running a osstest. Sound subsystem and version: OSS 4.2 (b 2009/201407102320) (0x00040100) Platform: Linux/x86_64 3.15.5 #2 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jul 10 23:2...

Re: 3.15 and 3.16 Support?

Did you use the 2009 build from the website, or the package from Arch Linux? What if I compile the new 3.16 kernel, do you think it would run with OSS4.2 if I use the 3.14 compatibility patch?

[SOLVED] 3.15.5 Kernel No Sound

Does OSS4.2 work with the 3.15 kernel? I recently updated my 3.14 kernel to 3.14.10, and my OSS stopped working.

Re: Support for Pepper Flash / HTML5 vids?

Then you should be able to choose gstreamer from a drop-down menu I think. What drop-down menu are you talking about? You probably have gstreamer 0.10 - it's ok too but their might be some bug . I for sure have gstreamer 1.0 on my system. Although Debian stable is rather slow to upgrade its package...

Re: Support for Pepper Flash / HTML5 vids?

The distributions still can decide if they want to use the gstreamer backend or not. Considering debian has a rather slow packaging policy they might need to handle things differently. Firefox will enable gstreamer 1.0 by default only when it's in debian stable. It might also be that the debian Sid...

I figured you already have since you already claimed that OSSPlay contained bugs. That's a very bold statement. If you can't prove that OSSPlay has bugs then I wouldn't go around saying it does.

Re: Bit-Perfect Audio Playback

Igor, I must disagree with your points. 1. OSS4 was designed to be working out of the box without any tweaks. It wasn't designed for "semi-deaf" users. The default settings are set up so no tweaking needs to be made for it to function properly. Not everyone is us who knows how to disable a...

Re: Bit-Perfect Audio Playback

I never downloaded Audacious, so I can't compare them both. But, I did just open Deadbeef and test the pause and play you were talking about. When I click pause, there is a slight pause before it stops the music. Then, when I hit play, it instantly plays. Its just when pausing it, there will be a sl...

So, if I want to support having the ability to change the headphone impedance on this card threw ossmix, I should contact them with that e-mail?

Re: Bit-Perfect Audio Playback

I thought about using Petrov's plugin, but I just refuse to use plugins of any kind. I remember you mentioning that Deadbeef had more latency then Audacious. Well, I can imagine that ossplay having the least of them both, and out of all audio players. OSSPlay is like built into OSS4, it seems so per...

Re: Bit-Perfect Audio Playback

That's pretty interesting since I've experienced this very same issue in Audacious... I think this happens when the player gets stuck using the last freqency it used. When I closed out of Deadbeef and re loaded it, the audio was fixed. If cooked mode was enabled, I wouldn't of experienced this, sin...
