Re: Solaris 11/11 GA support?

Hi,

Solaris 11 comes with OSS 4 built in under the new Boomer audio sound system. There is no need for OSS for Solaris 11.

Under Solaris 10, you need to reboot the system after installing OSS. T

Re: OSS 3.9.8f for HPUX 11i question

I too was wondering the same as to whether it was only me who was missing something in the card list that came along with the driver. I guess the card list is not complete in itself. Anyway, it would be really nice to see the most recent v4 getting compiled in 11i v1. It's highly unlikely we'll por...

Re: OSS v3.9 with Kernel 3.x

Will 4Front be producing OSS v3.9 binaries compatible with the latest Linux Kernels or will v3 users be forced (kicking & screaming) to upgrade to v4.2? Unfortunately there's too much mucking around with the sndshield.c file to get it working for Linux 3.0 kernels. Is there any reason to use OS...

Re: Linking ossxmix with gcc version 4.6.1

The makefile is automatically generated, so patching it can be done only after running the configure step. The makefile generation could be patched, but this error is odd. It seems all you're doing is rearranging the line? Also, I don't see an error with gcc v4.6.2 on debian... Can you check whethe...

Re: Problem with compiling on the 3.0 kernel

Probably too late to be useful... You can override this by editing cmd/Makefile and removing ossmixd from SUBDIRS line. That said, the error reminds me of seawright's earlier. In both cases, it seems gcc can't find the library when linking, and rearranging the arguments the way he did might help? h...

Re: sound blaster x fi xtrememusic 5.1 surround sound

IIRC the oss_sbxfi driver does not support 5.1... well that sucks :( what about 4.0 or 5.0? will it ever be sported any time soon? Your best bet is to go with Creative's ALSA driver. This card is far too complicated and since a driver for Linux exists there's really no point in doing another driver...

Ogg is an open source format and you can find libraries that will do the conversion for you (libogg).

again, we have suspend/resume in the roadmap for OSS - the problem is now finding time to code or getting other contributors to OSS to code.

Re: Please, explain this to me like to a 4yo child

reason is that each OS has a different mechanism for suspend/resume.......when OSS was being developed Solaris and BSD didn't even have concepts to deal with ACPI & power management. The honest truth is we just got lazy. But one can retrofit PM support into OSS. the oss_ich audio driver has some...

Hi,

Try compiling http://www.4front-tech.com/test/multich_test.c (cc -o multich multich_test.c -lm ) and see if you hear the multiple beeps on each of the speakers.

Re: OSS v4.2 build 2004 - looking GOOD!

Cesium noticed that the oss source adds a 'ddi-no-autoattach' line under Solaris 9:
#ifdef SOL9 fprintf (conf, "ddi-no-autodetach=1 ddi-forceattach=1 \n"); #endif
Would removing the ifdef help so that the autodetech is run regardless of OS (m...
