Re: Is there a kind of oss-soundconf-gtk?

Hi Temüjin! Your trick with "gnome-sound-properties" works well. Really perfect. And the method itself might be very useful for hacking Ubuntu. Thank you very much! QUESTION: It is rumoured that “notify-osd” does not work on Ubuntu 9.10 without PulseAudio. I do not know what “notify-osd” i...

Re: Is there a kind of oss-soundconf-gtk?

Hi Temüjin! Thank you very much again and again. I will implement it as soon as possible. I am now installing Ubuntu 9.10 on the ancient box. As usual, no ethernet connection. I managed to fix this bug in 9.04 by editing menu.lst Just added "acpi=force pci=noacpi" to the "kernel"...

Re: Is there a kind of oss-soundconf-gtk?

Thanks!

Why not simply edit such files with gedit?

~.gconf/system/gstreamer/0.10/default/%gconf.xml

~.gconf/desktop/gnome/sound/%gconf.xml

Is there a kind of oss-soundconf-gtk?

Hi all! In Ubuntu Repositories (9.04 and 9.10), there is a nice application asoundconf-gtk It can make your life more comfortable, when you remove PulseAudio and configure ALSA. You can select soundcard, set the proper config files, etc. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=311320 Temüjin report...

Re: no sound/9.04 AMD-64Jaunty once OSS4 installed

This command:

dmesg | grep oss

may show if there are any errors on the device.

and this command too:

dmesg | grep HDA

Re: no sound/9.04 AMD-64Jaunty once OSS4 installed

Hi Temüjin! Many thanks! I am really puzzled by this. Is it the same for mic? record.mix.mute.fp-mic1 ON|OFF (currently ON) For example, on Mint forum, a happy user reported this: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=32173&start=15 Got my mic working in the back mic jack, here's ...

Re: envy24ht - no mic, no input

this might be your mic:

ac97.mic [<leftvol>:<rightvol>] (currently 15:15)

and it is very low.
You can make it up with a command line:

ossmix ac97.mic [something]

see:

man ossmix

And where is the switch to this mic?

Don't panic!

read that thread

hint:

ossmix

you have everything there.
see my explanations, in that thread.
If nothing help, I may try to read your data (ossmix, etc.)
Or you should wait, until cesium reveals a magic solution.

Re: no sound/9.04 AMD-64Jaunty once OSS4 installed

Hi Ken ! Perhaps, you should wait a bit. The gurus seem to be busy. In a word, we made some troubleshooting of OSS4 problems on Mint forum. Perhaps, you may find some useful info in these threads: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=32973 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=...
