OSS 4.2 build 2008 is being announced for Linux, Solaris, UnixWare, OSR6 and FreeBSD.

- fixes for AMD CS5536 device
- fixes for LynxTwo
- updated license - now OSS is licensed for 1 year from this announcement date.

awesome. I submitted an updated port for FreeBSD.

However, it seems the only change, in the BSD version at least, is the oss_envy24ht group was moved down below oss_envy24 in the devlists/Linux list. I just did a diff -ruN oss42-build2007/ oss42-build2008/ so maybe I am missing something?

Anyhow, keep up the great work. I just signed up for a 'registered' copy. I don't believe I yet have any hardware that needs the proprietary drivers - but maybe down the road, and I may have a few questions.

Is there a third place for where development takes place? Checked both git and mercurial but i can't see the mentioned commits.

Sadly the last commit on git seems to have been left out of this release

Perhaps, it might be possible to do something about "spam" and "security".

Since 99.99% of new messages posted by new users are spam, there might be a simple solution.
For example:
1. Close registration of new users.
2. Create a special forum for novices.
3. Allow registration only on this forum for novices.

This simple solution may solve several problems:
1. It may prevent pollution of the Linux forum.
2. It may facilitate detection and removal of spam.
