What OpenSoundSystem developers think about android and my idea "OSS4 Android"?
Really interesting to hear.

Re: OSS4 for Android
I am currently developing a music player for Android platform specifically for lossless high sampling rates wavpack files, 96.0 Khz and above. So I am certainly interested to bundle my software with OSS for precise no compromise quality suitable for audiophiles. So if there any interest to work together, then do not hesitate to contact me.

1. The true audiophiles seem to be busy with HiRes FLACs and DXD Waves.
2. 96kHz is, of course, better than 48kHz, but it is nothing more than "digital crap".
3. Android devices may not be capable of producing sound quality "suitable for audiophiles". It depends on hardware.
4. Semi-deaf kids are not likely to be audiophiles.
OSS4 may perform better than ALSA, but it cannot transform crappy hardware into a kind of "audiophile gear", or "high-end audiophile music and audio equipment". Although, of course, semi-deaf audiophiles may want to try such "open-source solutions".

Re: OSS4 for Android
Android is a crap in this section. There is no audiophile things or some sort of that planned for these little devices, which are getting to hold and control people lives, just as planned. (joke)
Time have passed so I can say to android users, that Neutron Player with NEON support is cool, but it uses resample, which is killing low and high frenquences and then it making some DSP sound effects crap on the wave. So... not an option for me anymore.
There is good player called GMMP or GoneMAD Music Player. It is, as I assume, the best player for this moment, because sound isn't distorted somehow or cut. It supports OpenSL library, but don't know about that much.
In conclusion, I would say to people, who wants to listen music through portable player, use special devices for this purpose, not android smartphones. It will be better for your ears and more satisfactional.
Thank you for your attention.
