the problem is rather simply. We have an Ultra 45 with a built-in sound card and a SF 240 with an M-Audio revolution 7.1 installed. Both SPARC machines run Solaris 10. We want to record audio from line-in and save it in an mp3 file. I learned that one can use lame to do the conversion from whatever to mp3. We have been successful doing what we want through a Sun Ray using the following command:
/usr/local/bin/sox -t sunau -r 44100 /tmp/SUNWut/dev/utaudio/1 -r 44100 -s -w -t raw - | lame -r -m m - /home/ahoesch/Test.mp3
However, we don't what to go through a Sun Ray (quality is poor) but through /dev/audio (built-in soundcard) or the /dev/dsp/... (M-Audio). Here we get lost. What command would do the trick?
Thanks a lot!
