Solaris 11/11 GA support?

Postby mnsunuser » Tue Jan 10, 2012 6:04 pm

Is there a specific method or technique for getting OSS 4.2 (latest) installed on S11?

I am having a strange audio issue on my Ultra 20 with onboard chipset.

I would get what sounds like "feedback" from the system after about 2min of playing a youtube or other clip.

I Solaris 10 8/11 (update 10), I "fixed" this by unplugging the CD audio cable and installing OSS 4.2 (latest)... I guess there are grounding issues with some liteon drives.

But, I cannot get osstest to work on S11.

And after a fresh install, here is the error I get.

## Executing postinstall script.
Setting up Open Sound System....please wait
Removing old driver oss_atiaudio
Removing old driver oss_audioloop
Removing old driver oss_audiopci
Removing old driver oss_hdaudio
Removing old driver usb_ac
Removing old driver usb_as
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' osscore
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"pci10de,59"' oss_ich
("pci10de,59") already in use as a driver or alias.
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"pci10de,59"' oss_ich
Installing OSS (oss_ich) failed

I uninstalled (pkgrm even with the -A option) and reinstalled but still have the same problem.

gstreamer-properties lists the OSS as an option and I can use the GST "test" button, but, the command line tool has me worried.

also, gstreamer audio controls on Solaris are "bkacked out"

Is this normal?

Solaris 11 comes with OSS 4 built in under the new Boomer audio sound system. There is no need for OSS for Solaris 11.

Under Solaris 10, you need to reboot the system after installing OSS. T
