Problems with 5.1-channel audio on CMI9739

Postby Marvin » Mon Sep 27, 2004 3:01 pm

The sound chip CMI9739 is controlled by SIS7012. After setting mixext.rear2linejack and center2micjack (the chip is integrated on an ASRock K7S8XE+ motherboard) and playing a DVD that contains 5.1 AC3 with mplayer sound comes from different audioplugs but is clicking and disorted ... and after like 10 seconds the whole sound system hangs and only a reboot helps. Is there any hope that this chip gets 5.1 channels output with OSS or is it time to buy a new sound card. Oh and btw, pcm volume on this chip is either 0 or 1 ... silence and total power only.

From /dev/sndstat
Card config:
Intel ICH AC97 audio controller at 0xd800 irq 10

Audio devices:
0: SiS 7012 (DUPLEX,GRC3)
1: SiS 7012 (shadow) (DUPLEX,GRC3)

0: AC97 Mixer (CMI9739)

System is running FreeBSD 5.2.1
