Run soundconf , select Automatic Boot Setup and select Enable. You

you also can load the kernel module at sartup (my faforite method),
by adding the following line in your /boot/loader.conf:
be sure you have "device pcm" deaktivated in the kernel and not loaded the pcm as a module
Sorry but that only applies to the free OSS drivers that come with FreeBSD. Our commercial drivers need to run the soundon command.
