Today an electric problem ruined my Linux partition.. So I decided to give Solaris a try. After 1 hour I got the Internet working. The sound is not that easy to set up. I download OSS, install it, and (I have a SBLive 5.1 card)
-it doesnt solve the problem with /dev/audioctl not opening
-osstest says there is no compatible sound card detected
-ossdetect has this output:
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' osscore
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"pci1039,7012"' ich
("pci1039,7012") already in use as a driver or alias.
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"pci1039,7012"' ich
Installing OSS (ich) failed
-/usr/lib/oss/soundon and /usr/lib/oss/scripts/uninstall.sh are missing.
Whatever I do, it does not work. What now?

You probably have the tools.de driver installed. You need to uninstall that driver and then reboot the machine and finally run ossdetect again.
