ASUS Xonar Essence STX, supported?
Is Xonar Essence STX supported by current OSS on linux?
Re: ASUS Xonar Essence STX, supported?
AFAIK OSSv4 only supports the D1/DX Xonars models.
Re: ASUS Xonar Essence STX, supported?
I'm confused, because the Xonar STX card uses CMI8788 chip which is supported...
The card is recognized when I install OSS, but osstest gives me no sound...

Re: ASUS Xonar Essence STX, supported?
The CMI8788 chip is partially supported, but the driver doesn't know about the other chips (DACs, ADC) and the wiring of the card.

Since the work has been already partially done, is there any plan to add the support for the Essence STX?
Re: ASUS Xonar Essence STX, supported?
I plan to support the Xonar D2X card pretty soon. I just got the hardware and some info from ASUS/CMedia.
stay tuned.

Well, I've got Asus Xonar STX too. If you need any testing just let me know.

Could the SPDIF out work already with the current driver, or it needs some modifications as well?

Nice, will check that out. Compile myself, or perhaps it's in Arch's repository by now.
Re: ASUS Xonar Essence STX, supported?
You may need to add the pci id to the driver though...

Re: ASUS Xonar Essence STX, supported?
Very exciting, thank you for the update and your continued efforts to support this line of cards.
I would like to chime in and say I have an Asus Xonar Essence ST -- that is, the more recent PCI version of the STX (which is PCIe) and would love to see OSS support for this as well.
In particular, ALSA seems to have no end of trouble with SPDIF (IEC958) support. That is to say, it works fine, up until it mysteriously stops working while in a state of sound transition (typically while jogging music or video, or between songs). It would be lovely to have an alternative that supported both the on-board DAC as well as the SPDIF out as I sometimes have need to use an outboard DAC but mostly intend to listen directly from the headphones out (as soon as kernel 2.6.33 goes final; I tested rc2 successfully earlier today).

Has any more work been done since the xonar d2? I tried out my xonar essence stx today (pci-e) and had no luck. Is progress still being made?
