FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE / SB LIVE - loss of back speakers

Hi, OSS worked fine with 5.2.1-RELEASE (and I kept it uptodate with the most recent drivers too, but only as far as OSS 3.99.1h)

But on 5.3-RELEASE, and with the 3.99.1i driver, the sound in the rear speakers is VERY quiet.

Using OSSXMIX the sound volume in the back speakers is full up.

The only way I can get equalibrium is to turn the front speakers down A LOT, then crank up the manual volume, but because the back speakers were normally so attentuated, this causes distortion (and I can't crank the system up loud for decent music )

Any ideas ? As I said, I've had no problems with the previous releases on 5.2.1-RELEASE, and there have been no hardware changes to the machine - just the OS and OSS upgrades.
And yes, I'm a license payer! (I commented out the serial number below in case it gives away too much, but I can PM / email it to you if required!)

Seems like the changes made to support the audigy2-value may be related. Please wait until Jan for a fix

Incidently, I booted into windows (first time in a year) which i also have installed on the same machine, and the back speakers work fine, so I can assure you that the cat hasn't chewed the wires or anything

I was trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and I guess I should have stopped by here first. I am having the same issue and now I know it's not me. Also, sound doesn't work with Doom 3, however the snd_emu10k driver for FreeBSD works perfectly fine (but no surround sound). I'm unsure if this is related to the rear speaker problem or not.

I am in the process of writing drivers for the Sound Blaster Live 5.1 series of cards on FreeBSD 5.3 (maybe future versions) and thought I would drop a note to everyone here. I am basing the core of the driver off the emu10k1 project on sourceforge.
