OSS on ARM arch

Hi all,

There is several pieces of Ham radio software that use OSS by default. A lot of people have been using older version of linux to allow this as the oss-wrapper provided by alsa does not cut the mustard.

There is now a huge amount of ARM based pc's around that make an excellent alternative to a pc chewing away at resources (like electricity and bench space). These PC's have kernel 3.0 and above and cannot use an older kernel. The Raspberry Pi and The Odroid series to mention a couple.

So my question is: (keeping in mind I have no idea where to begin to do it) How can we compile OSS4 onto an ARM architecture? or Due to the popularity of ARM devices these days can the developers include the ARM build rules?

A few software packages that require it are: Asterisk/app_rpt, dsd and hamfax and others that I cannot think of at the moment.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is no OSS driver for any of these ARM devices.

Perhaps I didnt explain myself properly.

The sound cards needing to be used are C-media - drivers should not be a problem.

it is the backend that is needed.
