sound in firefox without alsa emulation?

Seems like the patch hasn't been added to Firefox in three years time and the bug report is still open. So I'd guess it doesn't work then. Shame.

I circumvent the lack of features in Firefox like OSS support and hardware accelerated video by using mpv media player with the Open With extension. Mpv can hook up to pretty much any decent source with youtube-dl installed on a system.

I used the attached patches until a year ago, which I originally obtained via the firefox bugzilla and cubeb github repo.

You need to set the pref 'security.sandbox.content.read_path_whitelist' to '/dev/dsp' in order to hear anything, and things work best if the oss4 resampler is enabled.

I just applied the patch (28.8.4) and it works fine at least with palemoon (firefox based browser).
Note I did have to pass mozconfig_disable alsa when compiling to disable alsa being included, but oss gets selected then.
